Other Volunteer Opportunities

Not interested in becoming a Community Navigator, but what to volunteer your time and talents in another way? We have some other periodic volunteering opportunities for you to participate in.

For example, you could:

  • Help identify tabling and outreach events

  • Post outreach flyers around the community, like stores, libraries, laundromats

  • Assist with special events

  • Provide childcare for parents and guardians attending presentations and classes

  • Join a Rapid Response Team

  • Perform Office tasks (organize supplies, make copies, prepare materials for events)

JOBS AND INTERNSHIPS

We're seeking Community Navigators to help us reach the Southwest suburbs of Chicago! Community Navigators are trained volunteers who provide invaluable outreach, education, document preparation, and referrals to services and resources to the many diverse communities in Illinois.  Community Navigators are trained on immigrant education topics such as Know Your Rights, preparing emergency family plans, and immigration policy updates, and they conduct education presentations in schools, community colleges, places of worship, and community events to reach thousands of immigrants. Community Navigators also connect immigrants to legal services in the network.

Illinois Workers in Action seeks a social media and marketing intern for the Summer (July-September) period. This would be an ideal opportunity for someone interested in digital media communications, social media, event planning, graphic or digital design, immigration and labor rights initiatives, and social or community issues. The ideal candidate should have a passion for social media, be up-to-date with the latest trends and platforms, and possess excellent communication skills.
