IWA's Public Health & Wellbeing Program involves providing trainings and education to combat issues such as food shortages and systemic inequalities.
Currently, our two campaigns that we include in our Public Health & Wellbeing Program are HEALTHY COMMUNITIES IN ACTION CAMPAIGN, in which we address food access, health education, and community safety, and our Healing Circle Campaign, where women and workers can process trauma, share stories, and build community resilience in a safe and empowering environment.
Illinois Workers in Action is excited to offer a new program in partnership with Joliet Junior College, Valley View School District, and the Fountaindale Library! The Family Literacy Program offers free education services for the entire family to learn and grow together.
Our program provides a range of free services*, including:

Childcare during parent/guardian ESL classes

Family activities like field trips, arts and crafts, and games

Parenting lessons

Library trips
*Services are ONLY available for families in the Valley View School District who are enrolled in ESL classes at Humphrey Middle School.
