Lake County leaders are speaking out! Our Executive Director, Giselle Rodriguez, expressed deep concern over the potential deployment of ICE agents at Naval Station Great Lakes. She emphasized the fear and uncertainty this brings to immigrant communities, stating, “A lot of the community here happen to be, you know, undocumented immigrants. So, I have family here who are scared, you know, like, what’s going to happen?” Local officials and community leaders are uniting to oppose this plan, highlighting the potential harm to public safety and community trust. As Illinois Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton aptly put it, “These raids are not law enforcement, but instead they are fear enforcement.”
